Description and applications. The SideWinder has straps permanently attached every 12” or so, down the length of the SideWinder. These are fixed for ease of installment, so as to eliminate the need to use other components to fasten the insulation to the pipe. When used instead of the spiral wrap product, there is a cost savings in the installation and removal when required. It also has a better finished look.
Installation instructions. Lay the Sidewinder down the length of the pipe, fold it around the pipe and attach using the straps and buckles. This is attached like a “hot-dog” style. Do not overtighten the straps, as the tighter they are installed, the less Insulation value you have at that point. Please refer to our video for further information.
Typical applications:
- Initially designed for a low clearance application, the Sidewinder™ is widely used to cover the length of the pipe, folded around the pipe and with the pre-attached straps, is fastened into place. The straps are installed approximately every foot, and are easily fastened into place using the galvanized spring loaded clips. Part Number assistance. You will notice that there are four (4) digits to each part number. The first two numbers indicate the width of the insulation expressed in inches, while the last digits are the length of the insulation expressed in feet. A part number like SDW1210, (Our most common SideWinder product) is 12 inches wide, and 10 feet long. Since it has the preface SDW before the numbers, we understand that it is the SideWinder 12” wide and 10’ long. If we wanted it to be in the Cobra Tan, then we would add the prefix, “CT”, then we would have the CTSDW1210.
